Miguel Lopez

A U.S. Marine veteran and business executive fluent in Spanish with strong leadership, management, business development and networking skills. In late 2021 the entrepreneurial bug bit and he left Lone Star College where he was the Executive Director for the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) to launch his consulting business, Conganas LLC. With over 20 years of working with business owners and entrepreneurs, he considers himself a “small business champion.”

Miguel was born in Monterrey, Mexico and arrived in the U.S. as an infant. Two weeks after graduating from Humble High School, he stepped onto the yellow footprints of Marine Corp Recruit Depot in San Diego CA. He served as a machine gunner with Bravo Co 1st /7th Marines - Weapons Platoon.

Miguel has raised his right hand twice to take two oaths; the first when he enlisted in the Corps, the second when when he became a naturalized U.S. Citizen. Upon his honorable discharge in 1990 he used his GI Bill and started attending what is now known as Lone Star College, from there he transferred to Sam Houston State University graduating 1995 with B.A. Criminal Justice.

Miguel was in the banking industry for nearly 17 years, combined with his 5 years at the helm of the SBDC he has over 20 years working and collaborating with business owners.
